It's a small world, afterall
lalalalaaa...
or rather s'pore is such a small country.
That's why friendster's so popular...you can practically link everyone to anyone to everyone! Back in 2002, I embarked on a girl guides trip, national jamboree at denmark. There were about 20+ of us from various sec sch plus two adult mentor that went on this journey. I just realised that
6 of us are now currently studying in Temasek Design Sch and
at least another 4 that's studying in Temasek Business Sch,
I met at least 6 of them in my church on many occasions (visitors)
while two of them is in my church right now.
What coincidence!
It's a small, small world.
Amelia's back from hawaii! im gonna meet her tmr :)

Posted by Philothea` @ Thursday, May 26, 2005 | The only class I've for today is TV Production and I really enjoyed it! All the familiar IMD peeps were in the same class and Angela is the lecturer. She taught me basic video last yr. Anyway, we learnt about the the crew needed in a usual tv production, the studio language and did a rehearsal of a live studio. I tried being the assistant producer, camera man, sound etc. It was pretty fun and interesting! The studio director would speak in such a manner:
quiet on the floor
stand by lights, sound, camera one
fade up lights, sound
...
take one
standby camera two
take two...
...
fade lights, sound, vision
thank you everyone! it was a great job.
...
haha.
dropped by 7 eleven just now.
I picked up the seventeen magazine while the guy who stood beside me grabbed the teens magazine and browsed through it anxiously.
what could be so interesting i tot to myself.
After he reached a particular page, he quickly asked his friend to come forward.
he spoke in mandarin loudly.
that guy: Eh, can you translate the contents of this page to me.
his fren: Oh. 1-2 June, you'll to be more careful...3-4June, try to stay home as...
that guy: Ah thnks. Anyway, what other magazines have the horoscope thingy?
his fren: Duno. Why you bother so much? I think they're bullshit.
that guy: no, it can be really accurate.
his fren: they're still bullshit!
I nearly exclaimed : I totally agree! You're so right!
Haha. But of cos, he wldn't have asked for my reply.
I don't believe in horoscopes nor would I bother to read about them on the magazines etc. Well, I used to. But not since the day I received Christ. They seemed so silly to me now. No offence to those who believe in them. I just wouldn't wanna let such stuffs determine my life. When you read and believe in them, you'll have a tendency to alter your life according to what it says.
The bottom line for me is that though I don't know what my future holds, I know He who holds my future. And I can be rest assured that God's in control. I'll never walk away bcos my future's in his hands. I wanna move on with Christ in me :)
Anyway, do check out www.meowmoo.com. My course mates designed everything and they're lauching their sales of meowmoo tee shirts this upcoming saturday at the s'pore streets festival outside heeren. I think each shirt cost around $19.90. Check out for more details frm the url above.

Posted by Philothea` @ Wednesday, May 25, 2005 | I'm finally blogging again!
The past two weeks had been eventful and the memories are still fresh in my mind. Let the recounting begins!
Today 24 May 2005
The start of a new school semester.
I'm glad that I managed to be on time for school though I had waken up later then I expected. From 9am to 11+am, there were students' and lecturers' performances, talks, prize giving ceremony, sharing of vitenam trip experience, affirmation etc. and it ended on a 'high' note with Moses (my sch director) who sang 'I believe'. Afterwards, lunch at design canteen and another boring two hours before class started at 3pm. I tot lessons wld be a breeze since it's only the first day but it actually carried on for three long hours. Many sleepy heads dozed off. I couldn't take it as well. So, IngIng and I went off for a toilet break and munched on sweets and strawberry pocky sticks outside the LT.
Headed down to bedok and caught Stars Wars Episode 3 with my fuji and raf at the Princess. Tickets only cost $5 there! It's still pretty comfortable with fewer people in the cinema...worth it.
22 & 23 May 2005
Woke up extra early in the morning to meet Natasha outside M hotel, Anson road. She's from Johanesburg (South Africa) and I met her last Sunday at work. I noticed her as she arrived at snow city and paid the full amt for just being in the snow chamber for 20mins. Each session is actually an hr. While she was inside, she didn't even try anything except to admire the surroundings. Being me, I approached her and started a friendly conversation. Even though she had a camera with her, she agreed to embrace my photography services. Also, I urged her to try the slide and she finally did at the very last minute. She was kinda shy since she was alone. We exchanged contact numbers thereafter. That very sunday, I made a fruitful sales of 20 photographs and 2 DVDs which earned me another $14 commission on top of my regular pay. yay! Thank God! At the end of the day, Natasha actually sms-ed to thank me for being so friendly. haha. That was how I became her tour guide.
She visited my church, we went shopping and took neoprints etc. an enjoyable day! I practise my gift of hospitality. heez. In the afternoon, I went on for my church's CL retreat entitled 'spring!' at the YWCA fort canning lodge. It had such a refreshing and fun time! Everything was fabulous! yummy food, praise & worship, workshop, testimonies, teachings, minstering time, performances and the amusing race. Not forgeting the times Sherli, Shung, Zing, Carmen, Ollie and I shared and lol almost the entire night! Oh yeah, it was simply great! (: During the closing ceremony, we had a chance to use the hammer to hit the plates with our struggles written on with marker pens. It was a depiction of anticipated breakthroughs we desired, highlighting the fact that God can break down every stronghold in our lives...victory is our cry! Nothing is impossible with God and he who believes in Him.
21 May 2005
After church service, Sherli, Shung, Zing, Ollie and I went to cineleisure for dinner. After looking through all the restaurants, we settled for pasta mania. I truly delight in the fellowship and this belated birthday celebration. It was the quality time spent that made it really special.
Headed down to bukit timah. Meeting with Emme, her fren and Johnathan/Muen to settle some shirt printing matters. Gosh. we actually talked till it was almost midnight and rushed home immediately. While I was at the bus stop earlier on, I saw this little green frog. It looked cute and disguisting. Haha. I really felt like catching it home but obviously I didn't. I had the same instinct the other day when I saw this huge moth at the overhead bridge! twice the size of my palm. I don't know why I can be so facinated at such creatures.
16-20 May 2005

Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, May 13, 2005 | I'm not in the exact mood to blog now. Anyhow, I'm in the midst of my sch sum sorta leadership training camp. The Design Freshmen Orientation camp will be held next week and we're currently undergoing training for it. This year's theme is REFRESH. I though last yr's theme sounded more cool, INPULSE. Anyway, instead of being called Group Leaders (GLs), we're to be known as Fresh Makers(FMs), in line with the theme. Guess who we seeked sponsorship from? Yes, Mentos, the fresh makers.Yesterday, we gathered in sch which is kinda a waste of time and we accomplished nothing much. I can sense a stench of insipidness and collaboration failed. We had to travel down to Sentosa on our own. That explained why my friends and I were late. Public Transport really sux at times. So, reached Palawan Beach at 8pm+. We turned into freshies that night and had a feel of what they had to experience next week at Sentosa. (like those of Amazing race except it's in the night) Afterwards, the chattered bus took us back to sch at 1am+. Though we can't wait to shower, we had to satisfy our tummies first. Beatrice, Adrian, Alex, XingJie, Max, WeiShan, Rainer, Raf and I headed to the coffeshop nearby for supper, Pratas!
Alright, I'm tired now. More updates if I should bother.

Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, May 10, 2005 | I shall practise on my guitar after this post.
Nothing much happened today except I was out, met up with HimYi and Carmen, gave tuition. YiHan's mother is consistently pouring her favor on me. She even rembemered what food i like through our casual conversations. During tuition, she was afraid that I'd be hungry and cycled to the market to get me dinner (food, drinks, fruit, sweets). I am merely her little boy's tuition teacher. And maybe cos we're in the same church.
Sunday was Mother's Day. I tot I was working at snow city and I actually woke up late. But I rushed down frantically to realise that I had mistaken my work schedule. It's not entirely my fault. I mean who on earth will organise the work schedule in such a manner that the name is above the date? Isn't it supposed to be the date above and the details below? Beats me. So, I'm supposed to be working next week instead. Oh wells, I ought to be more careful in future and perhaphs double the confirmation. Since I was already out that day, I went down to Jurong Point before I headed to Granny's place for dinner. My Fuji accompanied me thoughout the day (:
Saturday was a fantastic day! It was parent's day special service.

Initially, I tot Mummy won't be coming since she had to work. But she did made it for the 2nd service, together with aunt pohchu, rachel, reena, jeremy, aunt susan and her bf. Though service was shorter then usual, the impact was great! It took off with a heartwarming and humorous drama, followed by a short video, David and Bruce's mother's testimonies. Even though I've heard David's testimony so many times, I just couldn't hold back my tears when he shared it once again. Life must been pretty tough for him. Living in a less than ideal family where his parents are divorced, his mother became blind when he was Pri1 due to some faults in a cataract operation and he had to work with his mother by selling tissue packets, sweets etc on the streets. To make matter worse, his mother died later when he was Pri5. I remembered how he used to be when I just came to church years ago. Indeed, his life transformation is truly amazing. He has risen as an academic star by being top in S'pore for his CGE N levels results in the midst of so much distress. I questioned myself for the complaints, sorrow, bitterness, hardships I had encountered in the past. How silly they seem to me now. David Hoe's testimony also reminded me that
when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
God had given me new hope.
I used to anticipate the day when all my family members would receive Jesus into their lives and experience the reality of it. But sumhow all the way, discouraging circumstances prevailed and I tot it'd just remain as a dream. Or maybe I sldnt even be dreaming abt it and let things remained as the way it is. NOT ANYMORE. I believe it'll come to past! Of cos, I'd play my part and leave the rest to God.
After service, we chilled out at TCC.

Aunt Susan carefully tasting her strawberrylatte.

Reena enjoying her mochavilla.

Aunt PohChu was really funny and fun to be with.

I had my mochavilla too.

got a lil tired after that,

Christine, Amelia, Himyi and Carmen dropped by.

Posted by Philothea` @ Saturday, May 07, 2005 | Just returned home not long ago.
Gave tuition this afternoon like usual
and shpding with Jogina thereafter.
Was rummaging about Emmeline's stuffs.

Left her place ard 1am and walked home.
It's indeed very late but it only took about 15mins.
Emme and her dog accompanied me back all the way.
I ought to be more worried for her, she'd be home even later.
Anyway, it was an evening at Queensway and IKEA.
Emme finally got a new pair of NIKE shoes, $100, pretty cool
and a purple sports bra, $30+ before we headed for
my fav swedish meatballs!!!

It was my only meal for the day apart frm a Macs burger.

I wasn't a glutton. I was seriously starving!

Well, I'm not the only one feeling miserable.
Emme was on a detox

and forbidded from even having a bite.
Of cos, fruits were excused. It kept her going throughout the day.
Shopped ard and bought some essential stuffs.
I bought a mummy a gift. Mother's day is just two days away.
The usual long bus journey home on 961
didn't dampen our spirits
chatting, chatting, chatting
so many things came across my mind
and it made so much sense.
Yet, I wasn't firm on my stand.
Thanks Emme, anyway, for the truth that you've spoken.

I love you, my bestie, always! (:

Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, May 06, 2005 | Faridah sms-ed to apologise on behalf on the design orientation 05 commitee. Once again, things screwed up in the preparations and camp has to be postponed to next week AGAIN which means camp's gona fall on my birthday. I can't discern if that's anything on positive/negative fence. Anyway, for the past few days, besides the RotiPrata date with ame,car and himyi at Thomson, I've been...
packing,
camping,
giving tuition,
swimming,
helped mummy dyed her hair,
watched Coach Carter
I must comment that it's a good, inspiring, motivational show. Just like Pay It Forward, Good Will Hunting if you don't mind them being preach(y).
Average is just not good enough. Period." This philosophy is one that is followed by the very real Coach Ken Carter, who oversees the direction of Richmond High School's basketball program in Calfornia. In 1999, Carter found himself in the center of controversy when he locked out his entire Varsity basketball team (including his own son) in order to motivate and push them to improve their grades. Not only did the coach close the gym, but he also banned any and all basketball-related activities. He was even prepared to cancel his entire season after 15 of his 45 players failed to live up to the classroom standards they agreed to in a contract they had signed earlier in the semester. His approach worked for at least one of the kids: his son Damien made the honor roll from that time until his graduation, and was accepted to West Point Academy.
Apart from that, the next time I'm goin for the Prata, I'm NOT gonna order dinosaur which is simply a milo drink with milo powder on top. It cost $1.60...I meant it's just a coffeeshop and it's just milo? doesn't worth that much right.
Sunday, May 01, 2005 HOME with you.

Ripped some stuffs off Zing's blog; particularly the verses which struck my heart. I even looked up the different bible versions.
"Come on, let's go back to GOD. He hurt us, but he'll heal us. He hit us hard, but he'll put us right again. (the message)
-Joel 2:13-
Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. (NIV)
Don't tear your clothing in your grief; instead, tear your hearts." Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful. He is not easily angered. He is filled with kindness and is eager not to punish you. (NLT)
Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to GOD, your God. And here's why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, This most patient God, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe. (the message)
-Job 22:23-
If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent (NIV)
Come back to God Almighty and he'll rebuild your life. Clean house of everything evil. (the message)
Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, May 01, 2005 | And the song that kept resounding at the back of my mind...
All for love a Father gave
For only love could make a way
All for love heavens cried
For love was crucfied
Oh how many times have I broken Your heart
But still You forgive
If only I ask
And how many times have
You heard me pray
Drawn near to me
Everything I need is You
My beginning, my forever
Everything I need is You
Let me sing all for love
I will join the angel song
Ever holy is the Lord
King of Glory King of all
All for a love a Saviour prayed
Abba Father have Your way
Though they know not what they do
Let the Cross draw man to You
*13 DAYS TO MY BIRTHDAY! :)
